2009 Re-Visited

Team members Morgan (Collie), Norton (Golden Retriever), and Tyler (Collie), Juneau (Siberian Husky), April (Toy Poodle) and Corky (English Cocker Spaniel) left their pawprints in our hearts and are missed.   Shelties, Jill and Sugar, were placed on the Honor Roll for retirement.   In spite of the fact that the weather was unusually dry with almost 19 inches of rain below average and gas prices rose, BRAT members made the most of it from the start of the new year.

January

Rona's Maggie earned both the ADCH and MACH2 titles. BRATs reported 11 new titles.

February

Lee Pinter's Miniature Schnauzer, Stryker earned his ADP.  BRAT members earned an impressive 24 titles.

March

The 2009 AKC National Agility Championship was held March 27 - March 29, 2009 at the Cabarrus Arena & Events Center in Concord, NC.  Lee Pinter's Minature Schnauzer, Stryker was in the 12" height division, finishing in 13th place out of 178 dogs entered in the class. He was also the #1 Miniature Schnauzer for the NAC weekend.  Lora Osburn's, Miniature Poodle, Dancer brought home the MACH2 bar and ribbon.

April

Susie attended the Schipperke National in Chattanoga, Tennessee April 11 - 12th and earned her Double Q #17 and HIT in Agility! Rene Fitch with Monster and Lovey, and Connie Hinton with Lola, Jenny, and Morgan made the journey to Huron, OH for the ECSCA National Specialty. They stopped in Cleveland, Ohio for 3 days of all breed agility. Summary of the adventure: Monster - 1 Double Q, Ex FAST leg w/ a First Place Lovey - Ex FAST leg #9 and 2 Double Q's Jenny - 1 Double Q Morgan - 1 Double Q Lola - Four 2nd Placements, three 1st Placements and earned her Open JWW Title

Rona Halbreich's BC, Kody, took on the challenging runs to complete his ADCH title.   Craig Staffan's Sheltie, Oliver, delivered the final double Q for his MACH 3 in the torrential rains in Crosby.

BRATS reported 18 new titles.

May

Nancy Dragotta presented the 2008 awards earned by BRAT members at the pool side setting at the home of hostess Connie Hinton! Rona Halbreich's BC, Kody, earned his MACH handled by Shelbly Fitch.

June

The last agility trail was held at Triple Crown in Hutto.  BRATs reported 3 titles in June.

July

The heat was on in July and BRATS were HOT HOT HOT running fast and running clean with a monthly total of 42 new titles! Our own Miriam Inglehart was transplanted to Ft. Worth. BRAT members on KENS 5-TV Our agility demo at the River City Cluster of Dog Shows Dog Events Day at the Pearsall Road Dog Park was a success. This was an event to promote our agility trials at the River City Cluster of Dog Shows and support the ACS no-kill facility 2012. River City Cluster of Dog Shows produced 31 new titles! The following weekend at the Reliant Shows, Susie earned her MACH2.

August

August was another hot month.  San Antonio's heat wave broke the record for consecutive days of triple digit temperatures.  It was not too hot for Judy Hrncir's Nova Scocia Duck Tolling Retriever, Cadi, as she earned her MACH. It was not too hot for Rona Halbreich's BC, Kody, to attend the Chicago Regionals with Blake Stafford in preparation for the Cynosport Games, or to attend the Southwest Regional in Ft. Worth.  Rona was there to watch and to participate with her Cocker Spaniel, Maggie.

September

September showed promise that the summer heat was cooling and the blessing of rain came.

October

BRAT teamed up with TAG for a USDAA trial in Belton, TX.

November

Rona Halbreich shared her adventures at the Cynosport Games in Scottsdale, AZ. and were featured on the November News & Brag page. Once again, David Hanson and Tim Laubach were official course reviewers and supervised course construction, including coordination of the building of the courses at the Games.

Shelby Fitch's little Sheltie, Joy, earned her second MACH of the year - the MACH 5 title.  Courtney Moore celebrated the long awaited title of her BC - ADCH Nike!

BRATs reported 29 new titles in November.

Wrapping up 2009 with December

Our very own Courtney Moore graduated from Texas State University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Animal Science.   A celebration party was held in her honor at the K-9 Country Club and in attendance were BRATs and Courtney's agility students.

Helen Rhodes' and her Schipperke, Susie, endured the unseasonal rain and poor exhibitor crating area in Long Beach, CA, for the 2009 AKC/Eukanuba National Championship.  Susie came in third place Schipperke.

All of the fur and fun-factored BRATS amazingly appeared on Santa's Nice List!
